On 2 and 3 December 2022, we held community drop-in sessions about our Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The event, at the Walcha Bowling Club, was an opportunity for the local community and stakeholders to talk to subject matter experts about the proposed wind farm project and the EIS findings. Visitors were able to speak to project team members from development, construction, service, operations and community engagement to learn more about the project and its potential impacts and benefits. We presented information on poster boards about 11 different topics:
- Project overview
- Project timeline
- What is an EIS
- Biodiversity
- Traffic and transport
- Noise impact
- Visual and landscape
- Aboriginal heritage
- Jobs and skills
- Community Benefit Fund
- Decommissioning
A printed FAQs booklet about the project and a Community Guide to the EIS were available as handouts, and our paper wind turbines were popular with the kids, while adults liked the Vestas hats! We appreciated the opportunity to meet community members and talk about the proposed project.
